The KM3 has an open tread design. There is an unusual gap between the shoulder lugs that is large in size. There are also bold and long stone emitters between the lugs. The shoulder lugs have a cut in between them.
The central part of the tire has small blocks arranged in pairs; between each pair runs a groove. The central blocks are surrounded by wide grooves and strong edgy stone ejectors are placed within the grooves.
Compared to its rival, Grappler has a closed pattern. There are two different shapes of shoulder blocks. Compared to the other grooves of the tire, the grooves between these blocks are wide. The stone ejectors are between the lugs, but they are not as bold as those on KM3.
In the center there are triangular blocks; every second block has a wide and deep cut. Blocks have sharp edges and are surrounded by narrower grooves. The entire tire is covered with Sipes.

On ice, however, the opposite is true. Because KM3 has a small contact patch, the tire won’t grip on ice, and the Sipes are absent, so slipping is likely to increase, resulting in accidents.
The Ridge Grappler lacks grip in soft snow due to its narrower grooves and is unable to throw soft snow particles backwards, thereby reducing grip and resulting in tire getting stuck in deep snow. The high contact patch and frequent siping of this tire makes it perform better on ice than its opponent.
The high contact patch increases grip, while sipes wipe away water, preventing the tire from slipping or skidding. As a result, we can conclude that KM3 is the winner on soft snow, while Grappler is the winner on ice.
